Default grainy hand held video recorder

Hi all,

I'm extremely noob in the videography aspect, so pardon me if I sound dumb.

Somewhere in my subconscious, I remember there are types of video recorder (not sure if it's digital or not) that records grainy, film like video and the colour replication is usually faded).
[I probably saw these from movies, where people travelled on a road trip and somebody's holding this handheld video recorder. yea sounds stupid i know].

If anyone knows what i'm trying to talk about, would be great if you could recommend me a brand/model/price if they're still available.

THanks a dozen!

Regards..
wade

Grainy and with less colour? Sounds like most videocams in low light. You could try any cheapo videocam and add ND filters to make it boost the gain. This will certainly give you a grainy effect. And if you overdo it you will lose colour saturation as well.
