Hi all,
Was thinking of sending the Tokina AT-X 124 AF Pro DX lense for calibration to suit the D90. Is there such a thing? Pls advise and if so any idea how much would it cost if still under warranty? |

This is the service center aka CP warehouse. Why not u call them up and ask? Anyway, what wrong with your 12-24mm? Having focusing issues or are you just trying to play safe? 315, Outram Road, #05-06, Tan Boon Liat Building, Singapore 169074 Tel: +65 6225 3788 (6 lines) |

Yes I did call the Tokina service ctr and spoke to Mr Tay but he's not sure why I want to calibrate. Actually I'm just being a bit paranoia cos I like my photos sharp. When I see the samples on the flickr of other users of same lense they all looked so beautiful but when I took my photos they are so so .I was told that maybe need to calibrate this lense against my D90 but NSC said that it may affect my other lenses so I guess I better learn how to shoot better and not blame it on my lenses ![]() Cheers |

Canon 50D allows micro calibration for individual lens, so u can have different setting for different lens, even for 3rd party lens too. this what i found out from the net.
For UWA, i think the focus not very impt cos most ppl shoot in f/8 or smaller for landscape. So the DOF is huge, most things will be sharp. If ur pics are not sharp then u should go calibrate, else u should not blame your gears ![]() |

![]() BTW, I found out that D300 also allow fine tuning calibration of the lens for different lenses. Could be my next target ![]() Cheers |

I'm using a D300 and did AF fine tune my lenses, but in general, the 12-24 is soft at f/4. I find that it is best at f/8. If you want a sharper lens, go for the 11-16. ![]() |

Yes, after experimenting around with my new found lenses I realise the sharpest is in those ranges generally from f4 to f11, depending on type of lens as well.
Thanks bros for the good advice ![]() |

DrSpock,
Why u decide to sell off ur uwa? upgrading? I love mine to death. and for the price i pay for it, I think it's much more worth it than the Canon 10-22mm. |

How was it?
Is there any major improvement in the DXII version? |

Stil trying out but so far so good. Stil as sharp at f5.6 to f11. Supposely less flare thats all with new Multi coat & in-built motor not much useful as I use D90.
Got a HMC Hoya to go with it but I regret buying a cheapo CPL so not good Will go out & get a B&W or Hoya CPL. No regrets!![]() |
