Default Olympus camera

not sure if this is the correct section for this questions.

Am a newbie in photography (although i bought my E500 a couple of years ago). Would like to upgrade to a better kit set from E500, thought of getting E520 and realised a few people in the forum is selling away their E520, is it because its not good enough?

So for a newbie, who is into sports photography and the occasion kapoh backup photographer for fren's wedding, should i stick to the current equipment or would it be better to upgrade? and for flash, what is the best flash for night shot?

Current set - E500 dual lens set.

Sorry for the longwinded question.

Thank you in advance

Is there something missing in your E500? Otherwise, I would think a faster tele zoom should be able to do the job. The E500 is still a very capable cam.
For wedding, you may want to add an external flash.

Hi,

1st off your E-500 is a good cam. Perhaps in sports photography you may want to get the SWD lenses, they can focus much faster (though it comes with a heafty price tag). Wedding shots would be nice to have a prime or wide angle along with a ext. flash perhaps the FL-50 but it's like 600+ or maybe the cheaper FL-36.

Your E-500 is a good. Compared to the E-520 the main difference is the in-built IS where the older E-500 doesn't have. But if you really wanna get a cam, why not get the E-30? Or perhaps the upcoming E-620? You may wanna consider the following options in your decision.
1st off. Use the money and get good lenses/flash for your E-500. (Then you will be well equiped).
Or get a new kit. And perhaps with the remainder of the money some equip. (Perhaps you won't be able to get the good lenses as compared to your 1st choice cos of lesser cash?)

Well, all these are just suggestions. So weigh your options carefully.

Cowz.

Personally, I find the E-520 is a large upgrade from the E-500. Definitely worth it.

Get a good lens to go with too. ZD 14-54mm/ZD12-60mm is good for weddings. Haha!

Mmm, yea but maybe it'd be a better choice to go for E-30? It's AF and processing is faster compared to the E-520.

Mmm, E-520 + ZD 12-60mm + FL-50 will be a good set up? Or perhaps eh Sigma 50mm F1.4, but you'll hav to move about like crzy

It really depends on budget.

There's nothing wrong with the E-520. Haha.

True,

Budget is in fact the major consideration factor
Mmm, i didn't say there was something wrong with the E-520. It's a good cam.

get the FL50, B&S is selling about 300 -400 range...and for lens..either 12-60 or 14-54..u can shoot at iso200/400 with f4 all the way for 12-60 with clean n sharp pic...for wedding.

as for sport..e500 is slow to catch unless u know the game well.. for the body upgrade, go for e620 if budget allow there's a diff compare to e520..

It's size and grip doesn't fit everyone.

But if it does, definitely.

Mmm,

yea the E-620 is rather small. I personally don't like the E-620 because of its size, feels too small and light. I'd prefer the E-520 in terms of feel, but function wise i'd give my ticket to the E-620.

But E-620 is much better in feel to the E-420. Feels odd not to have the bulge out hand grip.

Yes,

that's what I wanted to hear

E-30 is a nice intermediate camera. The arts filter is cool too. But yeah that being said, the pricetag is there yah.

Mmm, for something lower-end a E-520 is good. I personally upgraded from a E-510 to a E-3.
