hi bro,

my setting is Tumax Flash set at TFFL. My 1000D set at 1/50 ISO 400 and I'm using EFS 18-200mm IS lens.

It's my 1st time with flash photography. May not know where the flaws are...

just comment on the technical stuffs.
basically, most of the shots are underexposed.

the white borders are rather distracting and inconsistent thickness.

you capture the moments well but ur photos are underexposed. The darker colours and areas in your photos lost a lot of details.

there is no one right way to adjust the setting, look at your histogram in ur photoshop or lightroom. most of the graph should exist between and not too much at the two sides. that is what i usually do. If u are into all these, u can calibrate ur monitor because most of the time our eyes can only see what the monitor produce. Having said that, different eyes sees differently so post more and csers will comment and feedback. WB depends on your style and taste.

very frankly, I do not understand how people can comment the pictures are nice. I think they do not know how to see or do not under photography at all. I think there not not so good, and I believe there are a lot of room for improvement.
1) Photos are underexposed. You set the camera setting to manuall? what are your aperperture setting? Is it bounce light? Are the ceiling high? I suspect underexpose because the ceiling high and light cannotin time bounce off ceiling and to subject.
2) composition: some photos leave too much space. A tigher crop would have made the photo more interesting as it focuses on the subject we want others to look at, to capture the mood.
3) Shot of the back of the 4 people. What story are you going to tell your audience? To me, there is no significance. If given the chance, I would rather move to the front and shoot the subjects, not other way round.
4) Champange pouring. It would have been more interesting if you have moved more to the left to cover the bride's hand on the bottle as well. More meaningful
5) Guest at signing table. It would be better if you can focus on what wished they are writing on the guest bookm rather than a mug shot where there is no significance or meaning.
Frankly, people who tell you they are nice are probably lying to you. This is my honest opinion. Hope you do not mind.
Anyway, your presentation on as coffee book is ok. they hide out your flaws. But if you can compose properly, you probably have more shots to add to your cooffee book
cheers

this is under fundamental of basic photography.....

anyway, you need to..

Understand Exposure.
Understand Meter Reading.
Understand Flash photography

asking for setting will not help you to deal with all sorts of lighting situation.

Hi DeakFerenc.. woow thanks man for the comments. Dats probably the difference between a newbie and a pro. Pro do see some details. There are flaws in my 1st ballroom shooting which I cant find it and you really open up my eyes on the details which need to be improve in the future.

yup... it really takes a lot of courage to post here. anyway, for documenting the event, the pictures are ok other than the technicalities. but pple would like to see more emotions and those defining moments. TS, ClubSnap is definitely the place to stay if you want to learn.
