Any comments? Are the captions too tacky?

your captions sound like the SAF core values...

hi. I know I'm a newbie but maybe you could have used a ND or polariser? Seems a bit washed out (or is it the scanner?). The sun that day very bright, I can hardly take pics at f2.8 with my 602.

Best of luck for the photo competition!

Tweek, great pictures in the mid day sun. I find it very difficult to get good exposure when against such strong sun.

care to share your settings/workflow to achieve your pictures?

snowparang, now I know who u are. =) thanks bro. Yes a PL would be useful, but I don't have one for 77mm. =(

di0nysus, not much of a workflow, all taken on film negatives. I just tried to shoot with my back towards the sun, and use fill flash. That way you don't get too much of nasty backlit shots, can retain the blue in the sky, and reduce shadow areas. Other than that, it was Av, F5.6 to F8 thereabouts, pretty fast shutter speeds like 1/350, 1/500.

You shot film?? What happened to your 10D??

Nice weather you had that day, too bad I was in HQ doing MEA the whole day... :dead:

Most of the shots seems to have some kind of distortion (my eyes playing tricks on me?), you used your 17-40 on the film body?

shot these for a photo competition for the anniversary, and they insisted only film, no digital. Good in a way, can do my EOS300 some justice, have been leaving it alone for too long.

yes there are distortions, from the 17-40L. I realise I prefer WA more than TP. A true 17mm (without the FOV crop that I'm so used to) adds so much span and vastness to the picture.

I like number 2 too, I sent them in for an internal competition and number 5 won instead. Apparently to the laymen's eyes, vibrant colours are of top importance.
