Default DMC-GH1 on ebay

Does $1600 sound reasonable if I could get it by end of Apr?

It's very difficult to comment since there is not price guide locally. But is this price is USD?

You may want to consider if Panasonic have any warranty for products purchased outside your own country.

Yes it's in USD and comes with Panasonic 1yr warranty.

I also called Panasonic to ask about the warranty. They said I could take it to Panasonic repairs in US but it may take some time to order replacement for some parts.

Well, depending on how often you travel to US or if U are residing in US, then the warranty would be much of an issue.

I cannot comment if USD$1600 is a good price for the GH1 since it isn't officially out yet. But that price does sound very steep...

Hi,

A new G1 now sells for around S$1000, and we now see pre-owned sets for around S$800.
I've seen a G1 with both lenses (14-45mm/F3.5-F5.6, and 45-200mm/F4.0-F5.6 lens) on CS for S$1,400.

The kit lens on the new GH1 is slower (compared to the G1 kit lens), but has quite a bit more coverage. It is a 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8, compared to the 14-45mm/F3.5-F5.6 on the G1. This might make the optional 45-200mm/F4.0-F5.6 lens, sort of pointless for the GH1 (aside from it not being optimized for HD video).

That said, US$1,600 is steep, and could probably get you a Nikon D90 with a kit lens (though not video optimized).
For those of us not HD video inclined, the question might be more one of how much the G1's price will fall.

Time will tell.

Thanks guys. So if GH1 comes out in US at predicted $1500, how long do you think it will take before it drops to say $1300?

USD$1600
too much le... ya, rather get D90, or wait for smaller version D5000. or Canon 500D.
Cuz the size of the GH1, doesn't seem to shrink much frm an entry lvl DSLR.
