Hi, I've been trying to get the hang of the manual focus of 5700, but it's really tough... the objects keep moving, and the way to activate manual focus in 5700 is not that easy, hence making manual focus in 5700 near impossible for moving objects...
If I use AF, by the time it found its focus, the object is no where to be seen... Any recommendations on better ways i can do it? Or have i missed something? I'm still a newbie... ![]() |

The 5700 has never been good for sports or fast-moving subjects. Even with AF Continuous, doesnt seem to perform that well for a digicam. If you need such performance, upgrade to DSLR or back to 35mm again.
Tip: For motorsports where i know where the subject will be, lock the focus there and pan - like you would using a MF SLR camera. Use DoF to make subject sharp where necessary. Oh yeah, and due to shutter-lag, make sure you anticipate where it will be and take into account of shutter black-out too. Btw, you've found one of the weakness of consumer/prosumer digicams now. |

A combination of anticipation and pre-focus helps. Set "continuous focus" to on and use a tripod if u do not have steady hands. I have seen many action shots taken by 5700. You just need a little skill to achieve it. Easy way will be to get a DSLR.
