I luv my LX3 too. I knew I've got to have it the moment I set my eyes on it. No regrets.

Do you mind if I post my pics in your thread as well? I was at Marina Barrage taking a very similar pic to yours! Not trying to compare, just trying to learn and see which spot is better for taking pics of the Flyer.

Taken at evening time. Slightly adjusted the contrast as it was drizzling that day and the sky was gloomy.
I stood at the far end of the Barrage.. actually too far from Flyer.. Where did you camp at?

you know the walkway that leads to the roof? i stood where it was closest to the flyer, perch my mini tripod on a dustbin.

after i took that shot, on the next shot my mini tripod slide down and my lx3 fell on the ground ... ouch.

this sends me a signal that i have to get a decent tripod.

The sensor of the LX3 is so small that even at f/2, the depth of field is acceptable...hand held shot taken at the Semper Opera House Piazza overlooking the Hofkirche, Dresden, Germany.

This shot will not be possible with a DSLR, because to get such a DOF, the aperture would probably be f/16 or smaller, and exposure would run in seconds, and the musician in the foreground would be blur because he would have moved.

nice shot, looks as though the buildings got a silver and gold tone to it.

your hands are very stable at shutterspeed 1/4.

ISO sensitivity cannot be lower? so far anything ISO400 or above on the LX3, I always see noise. A bit sian when it happens.

1/4s not so fantastic to hand hold...the lens focal length is 5.1, so 1/5s should be hand holdable. And the OIS in camera stabilization s/w works pretty well...try it for yourself.

Anything above ISO400 is very grainy. For me, even at ISO400, for web shots ok, but for printiing no go...pixel peep at ISO400 is very dirty. I keep ISO capped at 200 most of the time, especially for food shots. Um, different kind of night shot...inside a restaurant at ISO200:

Is it those kind of finger length mini tripod? U should be thankful it did not fall outwards!

Although the dustbin is all the way forward there is still a gap, so very slim chance for it to fall into the water. In fact, it did fell forward, drop into the gap. Got some battle scars on my LX3 now, and 3 bubbles in my screen protector.

Hmm ... tried to post a picture under the thread "pictures from LX3" kenah taken down. Only saw a post from moderator saying "please refrain from posting pointless snapshots".

Is the following shot really that bad? Any suggestions how to improve it?

I did it with aperture f/8, shutterspeed 1/125sec

nublx3:
ohh... such a comment... is hurting. Tot any1 can juz post on the thread but maybe u can try adding a title? Cuz is rather meaningless to me also

But it seems tat the pic is out-of-focus on the flower? or becuz of compression, the pic degrades? I'm sure LX-3 is capable to take btr than this?
