Default 3rd quarter moon

Apologies for the blown out highlights and poor image quality. Camera used was a webcam. Didn't have much control over exposure.

I didn't use webcam to take lunar and planetary before, but I think you should be able control the gain, brightness and contrast using the web cam software.

Webcam is very good for capture Lunar and Planetary images... I had seen lots of amazing photo taken using webcam. A very well known webcam good for this purpose is the Philips ToUcam series.

Have a nice day.

The webcam was a Creative Pro EX. The original lens on the camera was mounted on a screw thread for focusing. The camera was disassembled and the lens replaced by a 1.25" barrel adaptor. The barrel has a universal size for attaching to a telescope. Telescope used was a 500mm refractor.

If you don't have a 1.25" adaptor you can use a film cannister. The size is the same.

Did you modified your webcam?
