Latest improved wide angle lens from Tokina.
http://www.tokinalens.com/products/t...4prodx2-a.html No wonder previous version price had dropped... Anyone bought it?

This version II was already out quite some time. Improvements, not sure though.

The version II adds a AF motor for Nikon users and features improved coating for lens flare. So for Canon users, the higher price version II does not give much added value at all.
The version II modifications are mentioned in Dpreview for this lens. http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/tokina_12-24_4_n15/ |

Got the version 1 canon mount. Excellent lens, solid build (dont like the push-pull mechanism though), very sharp @ f4 compared to other 3rd party uwa.
But the CA is quite bad if u pix peep. Just sent mine to service cos the aperture got stuck, found a few ppl with the same issue esp on the version 1, after a year plus of usage. Mayb the version 2 has improved. I read from the tokina website, it says the they mentioned about better coating on the lens... so i guess there will b lesser flare? |

Think the version II's price is around $1150 as quoted from TCW a while back.

*cough* *splutter* When did Tokina lenses become so expensive? I remember buying the old 12-24 for less than $900!

If buy from Adorama, 12-24mm will cost around S$600 + including shipping.

It'll be S$700+ then, after shipping and GST. And that's for the old version. New version will be close to 1k.

I'm seriously considering this 12-24mm UWA lens, but there are so many of these lens on the market now. And prices although varies, but actually not really putting a hole kind. Even between Tokina's own 12-24mm & 11-16mm, reading the reviews already can make you

i'm also seriously considering getting the 12-24. Seems like only the version II is available now, although I don't really need the inbuilt motor on my D80.
Was quoted S$855 incl GST from MS Colour. Checked US site Adorama and it's about US$450 (S$655) including shipping to Singapore via UPS. Quite a significant difference. I think that's the version I though. Am seriously undecided although I do wish to get a UWA.
