Akarui dry cabinet adjustment

Hi anyone as problem adjusting the meter? my RH is now around 27+ in a non air-conditioned room even i set it to default M.. anyway to maintain it at 40 - 55?

reduce it further to between M to L. 45% is good enough

Well,

I don't know if many people practice this, but every 3 months i always take out all contents and leave the dry box open till the Humidity reaches that of the environment. Then i'll close it and let the machine de-humidify the box. Maybe you can try this method out also.

I also just bought a new Akarui Dry Cabi for about 3 days already, yet it is still not stable. Either too low (30) or too high (50+)....
Anyone who can advise exactly how to adjust the knob so that it will hover ard 40-45?
Eg: Set the knob at 1 o'clock?

Is the dial at 'M'? Try switching the dryer off, then opening the door and let the Humidity reach that of the Room, then close the door and turn it on again(as in my previous post). Hope this helps.

Oh so the knob should be at M? First day was like that, but humidity dropped to 30+, so i adjusted it to between M and H...But till now still not stable.

I'll try your method. Hope it works!

May I know where did u purchased ur Akarui dry cabinet??
Was u been issued any warranty card?
How long is ur warranty?
Does the sales person told where to go for servicing during warranty period??

Sometimes the built in hygrometer of Akarui cabinets can be out of calibration. When I bought my 2 cabs several years ago, the hygrometers of both cabs were out by a large margin, and I had to cal them with a digital hygrometer I bought from a DIY store.

If you do not have a digital hygrometer, there is another way to verify the accuracy of the built in hygrometer by using the saturated salt test:

In a small plate put enough non-iodized common salt (sodium chloride) and add a few drops of water to form a saturated solution. The salt should be moisten but not dissolved but merely damp. Put the plate into the dry cabinet as close to the hygrometer as possible and let it settle for a few hours. You should get an %RH of 75% at room temperature. If not, adjust the needle of the hygrometer at its rear with a screwdriver to make it read 75%. Repeat until you're satisfied.

I am also facing almost the same problem.. Bought mine 1 month ago at CP.. And as if my cabinet door seal isn't that good.. Got my adjustment knob at "M", the RH lvl is still ok.. Between 30%~45%.. But when open and closed the cabinet door, the RH lvl will rise to 50%.. After a Couple of Hours later the lvl still maintained the same until I push the door tightly against the cabinet than the RH lvl starts to decrease to a stable 30%~45%.. Any Idea whats the problem??

Well all Akarui stuff are brought in by Cathay Photo, I suppose they own Akarui cos i see their labels on all Akarui stuff: bags, tripod, dry box etc.

Perhaps putting a small glass of water would help test to see if your dry box is working fine, mayb just a lil bit of water, about 50ml or less? If the water dries up means the box is working fine. If the hygrometer is still the same, well then dat means as Mod. says it's out of calibration or it's completely spoilt.

the manual says M should be beetween 40-50% H even lower down to 20-30%
if you think about it thought its still quite an improvement over the 90 odd per cent humidity of outdoor singapore haha

well,

ok the LED fyi is only to show whether the motor is running or not. Once the hum. settles down into the range then the light goes off. My dry box is on 'M' and has been around 30-35% hum. sometimes if i switch on my air-con to sleep the hum. drops to even 25%+-

Humidity is veri sensitive in relation to the environment so it's ok. So long as the box's hum. is low, it'll b fine. After all, we place our cams in there so dat i will be dry isn't it?

Just head down to sim lim tower, whatever forms of meters and sensors are available there. I brought two (one for mine electronics project, another for the dry cabinet) one to two years back.

Pre-calibrated with a tolerance of +/- 2% costs me about S$50 each, of course you can get one for about S$20 - S$30.
