GP Recyko and Sanyo Eneloop sells basically at about the same price..... One is made in China and the other is made in Japan. Think about it.

    How about this battery?

A bit heavy but definitely more flashes and faster recycling time

Here's a slightly smaller type (less than $10)
The other cable is just to do off the camera flash

Had used more than 25 sets of GB, Konnoc, Sanyo, MAHA Powerex rechargeables .

Empirically, for macro photography and using the flash in fill-flash mode ,the longest lasting and fastest recycling is the Powerex 2700 mAh.

Both Sanyo Eneloop(2000mAh) and MAHA Powerex Imedion(2100mAh) are about the same in performance with Imedion having a slight edge in recycling and number of flashes per charge.

The above impression are from my personal experience . Your experience might differ depending on your genre of photography and usage of the flash.

Presently I am using 2 sets of Powerex 2700mAh as main source, and an additonal 4 sets of Powerex Imedion as backup for 2x EX580s.

Taken off from photographic duty are 2 set of Eneloop and 1 set of Konnoc for use in other application.

    PowerEx is distributed by Eastgear.

I had GP batteries for a while.
Brought about 36 of them. All but 7 showed up as error after less than 1 year of usage.
When the prob first surfaced, i wrote to GP singapore and they promised to replaced my first few spoilt batteries.

At last count, its been 10 months since i last heard from them. I have not recieved my replacement.

Do you guys use quick charger or normal charger for your enelope batteries?

Just bought 12 pcs during the last PC show but found out that I only have quick chargers at home. Wonder should I go and buy the enelope over-night charger to prolong the usage of the batteries...

    Hi Bros,

    SHARING MY EXPERIENCE HERE:

I've bought several brands of batteries and all work relatively well and lasts well, EXCEPT for one particular brand.

    NEVER BUY DURACELL rechargeable batteries.

I've bought a set of Duracell rechargeable batteries together with a 1 hour charger for a very reasonable price in one of our supermarts (cant' remember which mart) and recharged the batteries twice for about 8 hours each.

Took it out to try on shooting the children and realised it only lasted at most 10 flashes before dieing out, went to recharge again for another 5 hours and took for another shoot a couple of days later- same result.

Went back to charge using another charger (this time a normal charger), and charged for a full 12 hours and tried to use it immediately- After 10 flashes +/- the batteries went dead.

Tried to google for its distributor but realise their IS NO DISTRIBUTOR in Singapore!
There is a webpage saying JLCorp is the distributor for duracell but when I went to JLCorp, it no longer holds Duracell distributorship.

So, it means that anyone who buys Duracells and finds himself holding lemons have no recourse to exchange.

[B]SO, TO SHARE WITH FELLOW BROS, DUN BUY DURACELL BATTERIES[B]
Go get Immedions, Sanyo, GP & Sony batteries- all works well

Just wondering.... Could it be that you over charged them? Personally, I use PowerEx charger and i just let the charger to do all the work. Try getting a better charger.

GP batteries hv been good for me 2700mAh rating ones, which last pretty long... e.g. intensive use during a day or so.
But their charge dies off very rapidly in storage.

I also have 4 Sanyo Eneloop 2000 mAh battteries which tend to have a greater shelf life for the charge.

I wish there was a 2700mAh of the Eneloop model.

I believe that the lower rated (2000 mAh) Eneloops have superior storage characteristics.
There is less self-discharge than the higher rated 2700 mAh batteries.

So the former is better for 'standby' applications, while the higher capacity cells are better for more immediate use.
It's a worthwhile trade-off, if you ask me.

With modern cameras this smart, it's easier than ever to take bad pictures.

unless u dun mind the fan noise generated by the quick charger, otherwise get a normal charger
