Hi Guys,
Was researching for a purchase of Tokina 12-24mm F4 when I came across the ADORAMA website. http://www.adorama.com/TN1224EOS.html?searchinfo=tokina The lens is on sale for US$399, and with delivery to Singapore will cost US$446, approx S$676. This is price is cheaper than what is being sold locally, provided the lens price listed on the sticky is accurate. So what do you guys think of this deal? Anyone bought lens from overseas website before? Thanks in advance for the advise. Last edited by HeiPiGu; 9th April 2009 at 11:56 PM. |

I am in the US and have not bought from them but they do have a good reputation on the photography forums here. I would have no problems doing business with Adorama. You may also see about BH Photo if they ship overseas. Excellent company with great pricing. My latest lens purchase was no sales tax (since they are in a different state- sales tax in the US is done at the state levels) and frees shipping. That alone saved me over $70 and the price was about $100 lower than the local shop.
Looks like there are two versions of that lens- http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...T_X_124AF.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...T_X_124AF.html I could not tell you off hand the differences but be sure you get the one you really want. I think one has an internal focus motor and the other does not but I could be wrong on that.

Hi, thanks for your feedback my fren. First of all, my apologies to members here cause I realised I actually posted 2 similar threads in this section, didn't know how I did that.
I read on Dpreview that the 12-24mm lens has a version II model, it's indicated by a red line on the brand name. The version II adds a AF motor for Nikon users and features improved coating for lens flare. So for Canon users, the higher price version II does not give much added value at all. That's the difference between the 2 models you mentioned. |
