What name do you think sony will give for the new body to replace a700?

Just for fun;

I am dreaming to upgrade to a700 but I am still wait for the new body to come out.
I hope Sony will have a full frame body better than a700 and cheaper than a900 like Nikon d700 and canon 5d markII.

So the question is : What name do you think sony will give for the new body to replace a700?

My guess is: 1. sony a800
2. sony a7
3. sony a707

A900 is already cheaper than D700 and 5D MkII (in most countries other than singapore) or about the same price. So Sony already has the cheapest full-frame cam... Why undercut it more?

That's right, it's cheaper than the Nikon/Canon. I still cannot afford and I would like to buy something between sony a900 and a700

If I am the decision maker of Sony, is definitely a bad idea to come out a product that would undercut my 2 hot selling products.

I used to think about going FF in the near future, but after been using my a350 for a few months, I doubt I would make the change anytime soon. I think, I may keep my a350 for another 2 or 3 years (unless it broke).

the A900 is already cheap for a FF camera and if you're suggesting for a 2k++ FF body doubt it'll happen anytime soon

for crop factor sensor system i don't see why the A700 isn't good enough. they could get more out of the exmor sensor in probably a future firmware upgrade.

I'm not really bothered about what they name it. I am more interested to see better performance especially in the noise reduction area. If they can come out with something as good as C in terms of noise level and retain the rich & vibrant colors of a CCD that would be perfect.

oh, about noise problem, i get use to sony system already.
the most i use up till iso800 and sometimes 1600.
hope they can make iso800 like iso200 on A700 hahaa...

How do we know that the A900 & A700 are that hot-selling? I guess Canon & Nikon still sell better in terms of volume...

Ultimately it depends on what Sony plans to release and how many new bodies there are in the pipeline.

Codename A500 has already been speculated a year and a half ago but apparently ony decided for the numbers to go up by the hundreds (I.e. A100, A200 etc.) and since the differences in the 300 series are so small the A350 was born.

Don't be suprised if they follow the counter coming out with a A400 and A800. Personally I don't believe Sony at this point will continue counting in the tens, I.e. A720 or whatsoever. Reason, to exploit the fact of a whole new camera based on the Exmor sensor.

If you follow the old Minolta numbering scheme SLR/DSLR there is a chance the new "700" will be called the A700D(SLR) or A700 limited(DSLR). The older A807si numbering doesn't fit the bill for an A700 upgrade.

I will be happy with A800 as long as they can ISO200 quality at ISO1600 and maybe add live view without the gimmicky swiveling lcd on the lower models. I am praying they do not add video just to keep up with the Joneses!!

dun understand. Dynax 7D and Dynax 7, the D refers to Digital btw
