Default Nikon D90 - Recommendation of Lenses

Hi, I am using Nikon D90 and is now looking for close-up lens. They should also be called Macro lens right? Any recommendations and what are their current prices?

    Then i guess the AF-D / AF-S 60mm micro would be something you'll want?

For close up subjects that are relatively inanimate, the 60mm is a good choice. For insects etc, a longer working distance like the 105mm / 200mm is preferrable while still giving 1:1 reproduction.

Check out the Nikon price guide and call up the shops for a latest quote.

a cheaper option is to get Raynox DCR-250
    $120 option.

hi, like to borrow TS's thread
slight confused over the working distance and the usage of macro len as portrait

I'm not into insect, but wonder if say flower, objects, using a macro lens while getting rid of my current 50mm, how will a macro benefit me too as portrait as people commented portrait being too sharp.
I'm looking into tamron 90mm. Feels like nikon 60mm with just 10mm more don't seems a paper different to me with its focu length. WIth Nikon 105mm too ex.

with 50mm, say I stand ard 1-2m away from my target to get her face, 5m to get upper body shot
with macro lens (90mm) on 1:1 reproduction, perhaps I stand ard 6mm away from my target to get her face, 10m to get upper body shot, but 1:1 reproduction will do anything?

At 1:1 reproduction, the focusing distance on the Tamron 90mm will be 29cm. You can't shoot a portrait at that magnification. Unless you're just shooing the eye or some other body parts.

Leave it at normal focusing distance and you'll have to back off to get more of the subject in the picture.

Prehaps you can try a extension tube if you have a fixed focal length lens now.

Depends on what you want to shoot and if the focal length does it for you.
