Default Raynox DCR-250 on sigma 70-300mm

Hi all,

After looking at all the nice photos in this gallery. I have got myself a Raynox DCR-250 to learn Macro photography.

I have the following setup:
Nikon DSLR
Raynox DCR-250
50mm f/1.8
SB-800 flash

I am wondering if I get another Sigma 70-300mm to work with DCR-250, how much will I gain? Will I be able to get a longer working distance instead?

I am afraid that I might ended up chasing away the insects by using 50mm f/1.8 with only 10cm working distance.

Did some searching but cant find exactly the answer I want.

Thanks.

Nope you won't get a longer working distance. It should be about the same... But you will gain a lot of magnification...

If you want a longer working distance, then u have to get a +4 filter or the Raynox DCR150.

hi,

from what i know, the raynox is use to help you break the min focus distance of your lens.. so it brings you closer to the subject you are shooting. and the more you zoom, the more shallow the dof will be..
