Dear all,
Does anyone know how to differentiate those two just from physical built only ? I heard that with motor is Di II, and without is Di. Then some says with motor has AF switch. Then about the code. Then later about the connection pin, 8 for with motor, 4 without. Confused Hehehehehehehe...Anyway, does this apply to Canon mount as well ?Cheers ! |

only nikon DSLR got screw drive system, canon their all build in motor.
nikon mount tamron the easilest way to know if its a build in motor or not is to look at the mount, if there is a screw drive coupling slot, its a no motor version. the newer model with build in motor will not have the coupling slot

perhaps you might want to make known your camera model, and which lens you intend to purchase first.

ok..
anyway this is what the AF coupling looks like for nikon mounts. if the lens is AF and doesnt have the coupling, chances are the motors are internal. Last edited by Clown; 8th April 2009 at 10:36 AM. |

I've the non-motor Tamron A16N Nikon mount, there's no AF/MF switch.

Compared against Nikon's SWM, both versions are noisy! Haha... It's relative.
