hi guys,
new to minolta camera. so need ur advice. a friend of mine gave me a dynax 300si + ultra zoom lens. all working fine. but i am thinking of using my m42 mount smc takumar 50mm f1.4 on this body. can this lens work with this camera? this camera doesnt have any form of control over the aperture and shutter speed. it has only picture mode. thanks.

Hi Dennis,
yes you can use the lens on the Dynax 300si with the help of an adapter.

i started from canon, some of the newer eos film slr have have problem of inaccurate metering when a mf lens is mounted via adapter. does minolta film slr with af system face similar problem? dynax 300si dont have exposure compensation and dont have control over aperture as well as shutter speed. so it will be an issue should this problem arises. pls advice. thanks

Not sure about that though, so far I haven't tried any M42 lenses on my cam.
Any bros here who can help to confirm?

If you willing to burn one roll of test film, I am willing to lend you adapters to try. I haven't tried on film yet but I think it should be okay. So far Dynax 5D is metering okay. God Bless ![]() |

If I remember correctly, you need to exposure compensate around +1 to (+1 and a 1/2) for apertures less than F5.6, as in the more positive exposure compensation the lower the aperture value(eg F2.8)...
And vice versa for F11 and above, need to exposure compensate negative 1 to 1 and a half, the more negative the bigger the aperture value... Those in the aperture range of F5.6 to F8 should give fairly accurate readings... ![]() Maybe borrow a Sony DSLR from a friend to determine the amount of compensation roughly needed... Like this, hehe! I did some shots using the A700 and carl zeiss jena 29mm F2.8 when I was still using Sony DSLR... In my opinion best to use it with a DSLR for review due to the inconsistancy with exposure... http://alpha-revival.blogspot.com/20...-29mm-f28.html |
