Took this shot sometime ago at Sungei Buloh. I think it usually hunts for it's lunch at the brigde area at noon time.
Stock Billed Kingfisher and it's lunch ![]() Also need ID for this bird which I shot at Admiralty Park. ![]() Thanks for viewing . |

Yep, the pics ain't sharp at all. Was using my 18-200mm as the birds are pretty far away. The kingfisher was taken at Sungei Buloh under direct hot sun at about 50m away, from a wooden bridge which makes things worse, even when I have a tripod as the moment someone is there walking, there'll be mini shakes .The dollar bird was taken from AP and this fellow is really high up an old balding tree which I gauge to be about 100m away. For this, I'm taking handheld. Please do give me some tips on bird shots. Many Thanks! |

I suppose your lens doesn't have stabilizer? Mine doesn't either, usually when I try to shoot far birdies, I try to stop down my aperture to F8 or smaller. It'll give acceptable sharpness

Actually, my 18-200mm is an IS lens so it has stabilizer.
I think that I need to play more on the M mode with the aperture and shutter speed to get the images right. ![]() I used to shoot in P mode for the image below where the camera will help to set the aperture and shutter speed. ![]() |
