1) Focus seems off. Not on the eye.
2) Hopper is too dark. Didn't use flash? 3) DOF is too thin for this shot. ![]() |

Seems like both shots are more focused on the body instead of the eye.

Did you use a flash for #1? From the exif file show 1/200 seem like too fast for
iso200, maybe you wanna consider to bump up you iso or reduce your shutter speed. Also if your f-stop at f/16 you really need to consider to use a flash. (Err...just my opinion, if you dun like, I can always remove it). Anyway, nice try! Shoot more, learn more! |

The Exif data shows the following settings used for pics 1 & 2.
#1 ISO 200, 1/200s, f16 #2 ISO 400, 1/200s, f18 1) I do not know why u changed the ISO from the first to second shots. You should have changed the shutter speed to 1/125s instead. 2) You need not have changed the aperture either. |

I used to use my 90mm macro lens shooting at f/20 to f/22, my shutter set to 1/60 or less, iso at 400 and flash set to 1/1. Maybe you could try out my settings. I saw your another posting look like you are using ring flash? then you can consider to set your flash to 1/2 power. Most important thing, try out diff setting to get the result and also one that can suite your style. Cheerz! ![]() |

This is possibly what you're trying to achieve. It's an old shot that I don't like much, will have to take another one this weekend with my new setup.

I notice you're using a Fuji FinePix S5Pro.
Does that camera have a diopter? If you think your shots are in focus when you take them, and yet they look out of focus when you review them, then you may need to adjust your diopter to your eyesight. |

Dun mind I share my extreme case of f/25...this was taken almost a year back, mm...maybe you can consider dropping your ring adapter and try the conventional way of flashing. End of the day, do not give up, keep trying! f-stop = f/25, Exposure = 1/60sec ISO = 400 EV = +0.3 ![]() |
