Erm if u ask me, location will really depend on how u wanna price your tofu. As well as things like how u want people to view it.

To view it as a speciality tofu or just another normal chinese tofu no difference from unicurd and fortune.

But from what i see, u seemed like u wanna make your selling point "home-made tofu". Hence, u should be going into the speciality food catergory.

That will really depend on the taste and quality already. Let's assume they taste really good and smooth, and really different from those mass production kind like fortune & unicurd, I think u can set up shop in town area. And of course, u can then charge a premium.

From my point of view, really good tofus can only be found in certain restuarants locally. And I do not mind paying a premium for really good tofu(of course not everyday).

Or else, set up shop at places like holland V and bukit timah. Where there is a higher concentration of people whom have the financial ability to appreciate the finer things in life. Erm, I'm unfortunately not one of those living there.... But i do appreciate good tofu to a very large extent...

As for shopname, u will have to confirm what's your selling point first before u can brainstorm on it. U won't want the tofu shop to have a name totally irrelavent to the product u are selling...

Hope this helps! And all the best for your tofu venture!

hi Scion, how is the tofu business plan coming along? Do you know how much one needs to cough up for a basic tofu maching setup? Thanks!

I can't get licence for my mobile tofu van.

So it's back to the back-breaking photography business.

    Hi Sion,

Not sure what you intend to use a van for, but, can deliveries be done with a car

As I say, "I don't know how you will be using a van. But if it is for deliveries of hot/cold Tofu, you know that they use cars here to deliver pizza hot to your door.

I may be right out in my thinking on this, but, would the van problem be the only stopping point to a good idea

    Cheers

Van, car, tricycle, bike etc. does not matter to the authority.

It's the public health authority that I can't get through.

    Oh, I see...

That would take a lot of work and money to get right.

Coral and I went through all that when we opened a Mexican Resturant some years back.

So I understand what you are up against.

It was not worth trying to take short cuts around things and hope to get by, we just had to spend the money and do it right.

As a thought, can you piggy back on an existing buisness

Such as you use their setup when they are not using it.

As for example. A business that operates from 4 pm to 11 pm and you use their facilities from 8am till 3:30pm.

    Or something along those lines

    Just a thought,

    Cheers
