Used my just-bought macro on flowers. The shallow DoF is still too tough for me to handle on insects

Were usually macro insects shots taken with tripod? I was shifting in and out of the DOF so wasnt able to capture a sharp image of those insects i saw. Moreover, I was using MF as the AF was rather slow
Anyway some more flowery shots...

Nce pics you have.
![]() For macro insect shots, you need to use a low aperture f11-16, low ISO and a shutter speed of 1/60 - 1/125s. Using these settings you should be able to get a larger DOF. For smaller insects you will probably need to attach a close up filter to your macro lens to get greater magnification. As for tripods/monopods, some people use them but I don't so it's entirely your personal choice. ![]() |
