The lens was A200 macro pentax. This lens will gives nice OOF.

Tks for ur comments. Was looking at ur diffusers version 6? nice soft shadows beneath the six legged insects.

The diffuser is still not good enough in my opinion. Still a bit too small to diffuse the light from the flash effectively.

Need to do some modifications before I do my next macro shoot.

My bowl diffuser (version 5) actually does a better job...

I have already a stofen diffuser but insufficient for macro. the lower portion is still dark if taken from a top. Ideally some bounced light from below to light up the lower portion of subject. So am exploring and testing and learning from others too, types of diffusers to bounce/ Another option to buy another flash but exp......

Lower portion still have some hard shadows.

U have an external flash? If you have, you can use it as a slave flash if you buy a slave flash optical trigger. In this case, you will use your pop up flash and the slave flash to direct light to where there are shadows.

Was going to use this setup on my previous shoot but forgot to change a new set of batteries before I left my house.

When your new improvised new diffuser is ready, pl share. Will help me on cost savings of second flash. My current one is flimsy and not so effective... so still exploring.

Tks, slowly learning here and there and getting the right set-up too.. Seems getting the right set-up and lighting is very important in macros.
