This is one of two huge bell-shaped clumps I found high up in the trees in NZ and I'm curious to know what they are. Thanks in advance for any ID help you can provide.

The clump is hollow, btw, but I still find it quite amazing that it can stay up there ![]() |

It is caused by a parasite fungus like Arceuthobium or Melampsorella. it weaken the tree and make the branch grows very thick and bushy at the infection point.
