Well, I personally would rather not have publicity in this fashion.... This will only make CS look like a sleazy place to the whole of SG. Just like the reputation that geylang n joo chiat gets for those erm whores.....

By looking at it from the big picture, this type of scandal, if allowed to be repeated too many times, probably it will affect the survival of CS as a place for sharing photography related knowledge. And this is bad for genuine users like me and I suppose the majority of users out there.

In time to come, CS will be recognised as a place for those lecherous GWCs to gather tgt and do things like commenting on a model's boobs, bum, face or whatsoever. It will be another online geylang/joo chiat...

If this happens, its just a matter of time when genuine forum users will have the mindset of not wanting to be associated with CS anymore. Once people out there knows that u surf CS, they will think u r surfing pornsites.... I know it is tad exergerating but u know what i mean...

The best solution here would of course be to put a stop to all photoshoots. But that is not economically viable. The organisers and models alike, needs to make a living. Why sacrifice the others just for a few(well, maybe a tad more than "few") blacksheeps?

Like I mentioned in another thread, there is a need for a system to control what sort of models and organisers we have here and whom we hope to attract here. Without this system in place, we will soon(or rather already) attract the wrong sorts of members, visitors, organisers and models here.

I hereby appeal to the admin of CS to give my previous suggestion in the other thread due consideration. Clubsnap is a get place to begin with. Don't let a little hassle of implementing the organiser/model moderation system get in the way making CS a great place to be in.

Personally, I have hanged-out in CS for slightly more than a year. I have benifited alot from CS. I really hate to see what direction CS might be heading for should regulations not be implemented in time. And this is the time to implement these regulations. I really don't want such a day to come whereby I and other genuine forum members choose to leave CS just becoz of the negative association one gets from hanging out in CS.
No offence people, but I think we got to cool down somewhat and not nit-pick on each other's wordings and phrases, but I think what we Do need to do is to make this forum a bit better ..

This forum is very useful, especially for the hobbyists and amateurs ... and if the pros don't use this, well then let it be so ... I think most of the serious CS members DO NOT wish for this forum to become a SBF type of forum, or for it to be associated as such.

I think it was after the previous scandal that the admin took action to disallow the nude/semi-nude organised group shoots (correct me if I'm wrong, but I wwasn't very active here in those days). I think if this time around the negative vibes get too strong .. we probably will all have to band together, mods and members alike, to save our forum. We shouldn't start abandoning ship, at least not yet !

I for one do read CS at work .. and I don't wish for it to become associated with sleaze to the extent that I would seriously feel averse to reading it at work !

Even if one day clubsnap no more another orum will take over and become populated with hobbyists, GWCs, pros and photographers. The 'spirit' lives on with or without CS.

Actually I read the article, nothing special really, just another of those normal articles floating around..

Glad things remain normal, unlike the case last year.

Frankly, I have no idea ... I wish I had answers but seriously I don't ... It would have to be a concerted effort by all serious members here to improve the community.

Frankly after reading the article, it don't seem to be as bad as I thought it would be .. It basically did reflect the trend as it is now , maybe with a bit of slant towards the negative end, especially the emphasis on the mollers getting younger.

The only sense I felt was that they wanted to portray that some of the mollers were too young to have a clear idea of what they were heading for .. and hence might be easily exploited .. then again, if the mollers were desperate for money they might have had considered teen prostitution, which is also a societal trend nowadays and a lot worse ...

That being said, I feel we have to wait till the comments start coming in from the readers and general public, for that will decide the consequences for this forum ..

come to think of it they never really followed up on that teen prostitution article they had many moons back...also did they spot light how hard it is for a REAL model to actually make it in the industry? the term model is thrown around too easily liao.

Well yes my conscience is clear but that don't stop my superiors or peers from forming preconceived or misconceived notions about me which may affect my work ......

As to the immediate effects of the article, well I have shot models before, sometimes in bikini theme ... and if the controversy worsens, the next time I shoot someone on a beach, I'm very sure there would be the general public frowning on me ... I can choose to ignore that, of course .. but then again ... it probably would affect me and/or the model to some extent ....

The other impact this would have on the photog/moller community as I see it, would probabaly be ..

    1) it serves as an "advert", encouraging more mollers wannabes to try out this lucrative fields, and it probably would encourage more GWCs to do something similar, and this may not be a bad thing ... from this pool of wannabes, we may get some gems, either photogs or models, who will have slowly improve in terms of skills and professionalism, if they are coached right ....

    2) it might serve to discouarge some who really wanted to give the photoshoot business a try, and turn them off, simply because it might get associated with sleaze, and either their families or peers will then discouarge them form entering the fray ...

So let's observe what the trends are going to be ....

You do realise something here about the statement in bold. Currently on CS, we have a large number of people signing up. For whateever reasons there may be, which is none of my beeswax. I will not deny there are diamonds in the rough in both photogs and models. But as I have stated before even on the Newbie thread and on other threads before. As a photog, what is the image I want to create? I was in that position for the past 6 months. Now I know and I am trying different concepts, ideas etc. Of course, I cannot be William Chua or DP for that matter. But what matters most, as I have told some newbies before, is what do you want to take and most importantly, what is the image you want to create. It does not matter which genre. What matters most is the image created. For example, like nightmare, he has created stunning landscapes. William Chua's weddings on WAs are beautiful.

Coaching is very subjective. In what sense, shoot style? PP style? Lighting style? In what way do you want to coach? Even with coaching, sometimes the results will be worse, esp if you are stuck with preconceived notions in mind from your mentor. If you read Zeckson's post, this is where a lot of people fail to realise that portrait photography or whatever genre is something that requires time, patience, heartache, headaches and a lot of thrashing and trashing.

I actually meant those who are serious enough about their photography and seek ways to improve ... however they do it .. I understand coaching is subjective ... and may not be helpful in certain cases ..

I meant to differentiatie those who wanna take nice pics and those who are here solely to take pics of pretty girls ... eventually from this group of hobbyists we should get some who are motivated to improve .. and this should be the value added that CS provides, in terms of photog tips and tricks, equipment etc etc ..

Well one way is to hold some kind of exhibition, either physically or online, of a gallery of nice pics from the organised shoots, to showcase good works ... good pics ..

Let's show the general public that beautiful pictures do come out from these shoots, and dispel the notion that only GWCs attend such shoots !

Just a thought ... feel free to shoot it down wahaha
