Default Physically trying out Olympus cameras/lenses

I'm intending to jump to the Oly platform sometime later this year, but I figured that it wouldn't be so nice to patronise the shops and try out the sets if I'm not buying it yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could try my hand at "demo sets" or something similar? Does the Oly HQ near River Valley have an exhibition room for people to touch and try the equipment out?

Appreciate any inputs!

Olympus service centre will be a great place to molest the system. But pls dun damage it, otherwise I will have to wait till it is repair before I can molest.

They have all camera bodies and lenses on display at OSC?

Haha I wouldn't dare to damage it, no $$ to pay (but I wouldn't mind buying it in such an event )

I'm looking at e620/e30 with the 12-60mm/70-300mm/50mm lenses.

After trying the virtual preview of the setup at the 4/3 website, I got an idea of how it'll look like but the weight is more important to me than just the looks since I want to bring my camera out as much as possible.

Curious about which system you're using now. They do have the E-3 on display at the showroom. Don't know if they've put the E-30 and E-620 on display yet.

I think u can request the staff to show u, they are quite friendly. provided they have the demo or loan set with them.

Haha, I'm using the Nikon D40 with kit lens, and I've used a 18-200mm before too.

I'm still fascinated by the colours that the Oly system gives, and I believe that investing in Zuiko lenses (which are lighter and of superb quality) will be cheaper and a better choice down the road.

As of today, the E-620 is retailing in the US already. Hopefully it'll be at the showroom

Haha I wonder how they will react if they see me bring along my D40, hopefully they'll bring all the cameras out to entice me to the 4/3 world!

As egnaro (and possibly some of the guys here) have mentioned, the OSC would be the best place for you to get a hands-on for the camera bodies.

Aside from that, you can join in the kopi session. Everyone attending there are very friendly, and I'm sure they will be more than welcome to let you get a hands-on as well.

Welcome aboard the 4/3 bandwagon, I hope it has been the right system for you. Do feel free to join us for the kopi-sessions, there are alot of things that you can learn from just listening and exchanging ideas with the other attendees there. We have quite a lot of skillful folks who are good with various aspects, like macro, landscape, events etc... Hope to see you around!
