I've just managed to get the parts to setup a reverse macro using a Canon A700, adaptor tube, coupler ring, and a Nikon 50mm F/1.4 lens. Need some help from the experts:
1) Does it matter if I set the focus distance on my Nikon lens to minimum or infinity? The lens is longest at minimum focus distance. Thinking of leaving it at infinity. (physically shortest) 2) I understand that the shorter the reversed lens' focal length, the nearer the working distance. What focal length do you normally use? 3) The adaptor tube comes with an additional 5mm extension tube. I noticed if I use the extension tube, I need to zoom in the camera more before the vignetting disappears. Extension tubes are used to reduce working distance for DSLRs, does it work the same way for reverse macro? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

For such a set-up, the reverse lens acts as a large dioptre close up lens.
so my normal settings are to leave it at the largest apeture for the 50mm lens and set it at infinity. Read somewhere it should be set as such. Working distance ~4cm.
