Don't know where to start commenting...
What lens are you using to shoot? Looks like it is having Chromatic aberration problem.

Some of the shots are quite blurred. I'm not sure if there was any movement in your tripod (even a slight gush can cause it over the long shutter speed), or if it's due to resizing of the image. I downloaded 1 and sharpened it once in Photoshop, you can notice a big improvement.

I also have this problem when I used a wide angle converter with my kit lens. Usually affect the brighter area of the shot. Don't know how to reduce that possibility. Also your shots seem to have some camera shakes...hope you don't mind this comment... |

Me still a newbie...
However, I was told, the best timing for taking night shots (where we want to include the buildings and sky as part of the scene) is between 6.30pm-8pm. The sky would look like this: ![]() There are better shots I saw in forum. Do a bit of search, and check them out. Last edited by Francis247; 2nd April 2009 at 09:24 PM. |

Get rid of that vitacon thingy. If you need a wider field of view get a real wide angle lens. The converters are usually of lousy quality and the damages in image quality are quite obvious.
Another reason for blur pictures can be your very small aperture. Good to see the starlight effects in some pictures caused by that setting. It is ok to close the aperture up to f/11, but not further. Diffraction will kick in then and cause blurring. Pic 5 is a good example about flaring and ghosting, caused by a strong light source in the frame. It's even multiplied by cheap filters and other low quality glass. Best for night shots: 'naked lens': no filter, nothing. If you need to prolong the exposure further use lowest ISO and ND filters, don't close aperture beyond f/11. |

Night landscape photography needs two essentials - tripod and hands-off triggering of shutter, the latter by remote, or cable release or by timer.
And yes, do get rid of the converter. |

Just a question to all the pros,
On pic5, u could see some faint round spots. Sometimes I do have this type of faint round light spot on my picture. What causes it? Is it Dirt on lens? ![]() Could it be prevented? |

not that there's anything wrong using a 10 sec self timer, but the 2 sec one would be more suitable in this case. that's what it is for anyway. 10 secs are usually used for group shots and you need to run into the shot as well ...
