Default Sony System any good?

I can see that more and more people are changing system to Sony.

I would like to hear from people who have changed their system to Sony to share what are the things you like about the Sony system and what are the things that you miss in the previous system.

Firstly, they have a good servicing team, and also the nikon are going to use the sensor for ff cameras.Picture colors are very good except for noise. I don't see why not choosing Sony.

I think this is a wonderful question.
Most people always ask "Why you buy Sony? Should buy Canon or Nikon."

So those people who change from C and N camps can come in and give their humble comments.

sony system is the only one that has a FF or APS-C built in steady shot..... for me i think it is crucial to get a sharp picture... i think steadyshot/VR/IS is still essential for potrait lens like 24-70mm.....ppl are talking this/that lens are sharp from center to corner....but if it is blur due to slight handholding shake, then it is blur....the sharpness vignetting distortion doesnt even matter anymore.....the picture is ruined....delete it right away....... the C/N camp currently doesn't offer that...and it may take them 4-6 years or more to actually put VR/IS in their fast potrait lens....and if they do it will be darn expensive.... so why not get Sony now..... and u can get budget fast third-party lens like sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and its still stabilized....!

True, not sure abt olympus but I personally feel sony's IS is a little better then pentax from my own experience.

I just got the A200 coming from a 350d and I do miss the low iso noice on the canon. Another thing I miss is the power on off switch. I usually carry my cam one handed and swing cam up and power on in 1 motion. Can't do that anymore.

In favour of the A200, the SSS is vv useful. The indicator showing how hard the SSS is working seems like a vv good trainer to improve on your posture and breathing.

Another thing that I love is the ease of applying custom white balance. In the canon 350d, I had to take a picture of a grey card to fill the entire screen, and after taking the pic then go in to menu and choose the pic manually. The sony system is so much easier, just go into the custom wb and it promts u to aim at sample area, requiring you to cover only the spot metering area. Best of all, it remembers your last custom WB setting, i.e. can choose AWB and then come back to your last custom WB. For the 350d, you either take another picture of the grey card or u start searching your gallery for that previous picture.

All in I am glad I changed systems and really look forward to seeing sony improve on the high iso noise, of perhaps start using cmos sensor across the board like canon rather then only for top tier models.

Yes, it would be perfect for me if they can put in the A700 CMOS sensor into a A350 body with LiveView...

Yes and I reckon that the Sony's B&S section here is quite low in transaction nowadays due to many brothers holding on to their wallet and see what Sony has to come up in the next few months....

By then, I guess the B&S will be swamped with many people off-loading their equipment....

borrowed a 400d from a fren for a few weeks before making my dslr purchase.
liked canons menu system and feel of the camera. the kit lens certainly feels more solid than sony's. and to nubs, makes it seem higher quality cos of the AF/MF button and IS button on the lens itself, while sonys is just plain plain.

decided on sony for A300's live view. which is just way faster than C o N's. focusing, switching from QVF to LV etc. and tilt screen too. was considering Olympus E520 as well.

and sony was actually quite cheap, comparing it to other cams with similar features.

only regret is that is didnt get a A700 LOL~ well din have enuff cash at that time

it is.
just that it is not grammatically structured as "The minimum focus of this lens is 0.38m".

Actually, quality wise i think it feels really solid. No lens creep at all.. Hope it's not just because it's new... touch wood....
