Default Good bye Sony

I know I only recently joined the sony gang. But I sold my A300 after only 2 weeks.

Its been a real pleasure shooting with Sony and playing with it, so many things to learn. But after a trip with A300 to the studio, found out that that so many things cannot work in that studio due to Sony/Minolta proprietary flash hotshoe. Then I went researching, shopping and trying to find Sync cable adapter, flash adapter etc, and so turned off by the lack of 3rd party support and Sony's high prices on acessories, so decided to sell it before I invest too much in Sony.

I really liked the tilt live view LCD and IS in body. Truth is, there is nothing wrong with the camera at all.

I'm still a part of Sony/Minolta cos I still have my Minolta SLR. he he he. So I'll be here often.

All the best to your choice on EOS500D...

I can't afford to keep 2 types of mount. Heavy investment already on 1 type.

Well, your choice... I shoot in the studio as well, and the $15 I spent on a hotshoe adaptor works fine for me.

One of our bros is actually selling the 3rd party hot shoe adapter and wireless trigger which are pretty cheap. I have used some wireless triggers in studios before too and they worked well. Not sure how hard you've serached and if you have visited our dedicated Alpha user forum.

I am a noobie of Alpha A300. But I felt the Sony group is a lot more personal, perhaps the user base are not as big as C and N camp to begin with. especially the senior member eg. Rashkae ......

I may not have access to many lenses comparing to the other camps.....but all the features Liveview ..... and lenses are already available .... I would stick to Sony for a long time.....

Thanks for all the seniors who have helped me one way or another.....

Ya I know about the hotshoe adapter that costs $15. I thought about it, but still lack of 3rd party acessories, at least to me.

And since I have not had it very long, I decided to bail.

What sort of accessories, just out of curiosity? What is something where you went "oh, too bad that accessory is not made for sony"?

OT a bit, it would be great if tokina 11-16 f/2.8 was available for sony...

great for indoor group and interior shots...

i wonder wat was the reason why it was only for c&n...

Why not use the sony 11-18, or Sigma 10-20, or Tamron 10-24?

f2.8 isn't very useful for a group or interior design shot.

Maybe not at widest aperture, but optically it has been known to be one of the best UWA lens...

and before that, landscape photographers cried blood, because the "best UWA lens" was not born.

i think optics should be approached in a "this can make it" versus "this cannot make it for sure" , rather than "what is the best" comparison.

at the end of the day, all of these lenses can make decently sized prints, the performance improvement is so marginal, but we all want to chase chase chase to justify the lack of merit in our shots.

everyone has their own reasonings to justify their purchases...if they think tokina is better, so be it...

they are the one paying, so say so much also no use...

The $15 hotshoe adaptor sync may not work with A300/A350 as its built in flash need to work in tandem, unlike A700 or A900 with dedicated sync terminal. Haven't try the wireless sync. Solution for me is to bounce up the flash to trigger the stand alone flash. Worked well and need no extra acc.

No, I'm not talking about the sync terminal. I use radiopoppers on the flash hotshoe. This works on an A200 as well, so i see no reason why the A300/A350 would be different.

Oh I'm trying to use the sync terminal. Anyway I didn't buy, just decided to let go.

Great body though. My film SLR minolta is ISO hotshoe, when did they change it?
