Good attempt for a first time shot but eyes don't look very sharp. Maybe do some sharpening in post processing? Also DOF seems a bit shallow. Use a smaller f stop.

He seems to be using a quite a small aperture... Can see the dust on the sensor. Using Raynox?

Thanks for the inputs. I used Tamron macro 90mm lens. Aperture set at f22 and handheld. Is the below shot with aperture setting at f16 better? What is Raynox len? Are they very costly?

You are using ISO 400 for your shots. Use ISO 100 or 200 in future. Your shots will then have a greater DOF and also less noise will be present in your shots.

Raynos lens is a +8 close up filter, Allows you to get closer to your subject and take a more magnified pic of it. Cost ard $120.

Definately yes. If you have the time, you can join in one of the macro shoots in the gatherings section. There will definately be a number of people who will be using the Raynox for their Macro shoots and you could borrow from them to try for a while.
