the sigma and panasonic i don'think are macro lenses and are pretty expensive, why not get a 35mm macro?it's a true macro lens though aperture is only f3.5 but usually it's stop down and used with flash to get a good dof and get the right exposure

For your budget & low-light needs, it seems like the ZD 25mm is the way to go. It's a decent lens for what its worth, and has a very usable focal length.

neither lenses qualify as macro lenses.
nonetheless, get the zd 50mm f2. |

AFAIK if you want budget there is only 1 budget macro ie. 35mm, but image quality wise 50mm is better.

go get the 50mm f2.0 like what schon suggested...is better than sigma 30mm much affortable than PL 25mm f1.4.. and finally, this is what u r looking for in the 1st place ...macro lens.
and no harm get it from BnS unless u want new. |

Insect macro might be difficult at 25mm. You would need to get really close at this focal length for a decent shot of the insect and for a decent magnification.

just bought my tripod this year and still working part time..to get that lens will take quite awhile.. will consider between the 25mm and 35mm for now but yes maybe somewhere around occ i will buy the 50mm. kinda hesitant with the 35mm for the F3.5 though. poly starting in april so kinda hard to continue my part time job. june going diving in sabah so spending money again !! |

if $ is tight I say work on what you have.
dun anyhow go and whack all. you need to use the lense for like 6 month in order to master it. go slow and steady ![]() |

will go and try the 35mm before i buy it but yea following the advice i think i may go for the 35mm. i checked the price its 400 for a new one and my lucked ran out when some bros selling their 50mm at just 500 and 550 have already clinched the deal..saddened.. if coincidentally i see a deal of 500 on the 50mm i'll grab that one otherwise i'll get the 35mm brand new and start working my ass of to get the 50mm |
