bought sigma 10-20 and 28-70 f2.8, send for calibration due to focusing issues at different focal lengths.
talked to the nice technician, was wondering why cant all lens checked before selling. The answer : lens need to be calibrated to body. different body may have to recalibrate, dont quite understand all these. anyone can enlighten me? |

sorry, he mentioned DOF thing, at f2.8 and close range, the front/back focusing issue is more obvious. for f5.6, not serious... mine r new one. tested myself at few focal length wide open, pictures taken all not sharp, so send for calibration.

I have a 10-20 about 18-months old, noticed it's a little soft and your comments here are making me think it's a good idea to calibrate.

That's only if it's a known problem in the whole batch or series during manufacture.

There’ll no cost & you can wait while the technician do the calibration.

For cameras like the 50d with the af fine adjustment function, does it mean can just do the adjustment on body? Or need to send down also to let tech calibrate?

(I also posted this question on another thread)
Do they have a machine to check if the lens is not calibrated? Or do they just try to shoot a chart while the lens is mounted to your cam? can they calibrate the lens to work perfectly with 2 (or more) cams? |
