Does anybody know how to repair a 'lens error, restart camera' failure of my S3 IS?

I've oredi scoured the internet, and it does gave some weird ways to rectify this issue. Tried all... took out batt.. change battery... pull the barrel... etc etc etc.. to no avail.

Call CSC -> Canon Service Center...

Did you knock on the lens while it is extended? Did you went to the beach and maybe get sand inside the gap of the barrel? May need to make to trip to CSC but with a S3, chances are your warranty has already expired...

Yes, item has oredi expired. Previously my S2 IS had the same problem and i just sold it off at a cheap price.

Mebbe i shd just sell this off too.

You might want to send in to CSC and get a quote. S3 is still a perfectly good camera so if the repair cost is reasonable, perhaps you can consider paying the fee...

I will head down to CSC on Sat since the working hrs are not accomodating to me on weekdays.

CSC is open on Mondays to Fridays only, IIRC.

Whoops remembered wrongly. Sorry. i remember trying to pick up my lens and failing because they were closed on a Saturday before, but that was a long time ago.
