nikon one is definitely a better one, in terms of sharpness, lesser chromatic aberation
i do own a tokina 12-24. wats good about the lens is the range, but sharpness wise, it is sharpest onli after f8. Chromatic aberation is an issue with the tokian one, but it can be fixed with photoshop. vignetting do occurs with u use CPL on the tokina at 12mm, but it starts to go away when u increase the focal length. Distortion at 12mm is quite visible at 12mm also, but it starts to reduce as focal length increase. but comparing the price, tokina is about half the price of the nikon . hope my comments can help u.( the above comments onli represent my personal humble opinion, dun flame me if u strongly oppose it) |

I'd recommend the Nikon AF-S 12-24mm/f4. I used this lens on my D300 body during a autumn trip to JiuZhaiGou and was pleasantly surprised by the performance. Not to heavy, good sharpness, good flare control. Definitely OK on a DX body. You may wish to login in to this below link to see some of my photos?

If you are going for the Nikon 12-24, you might as well pay less and get the Tokina 11-16. The 11-16 is a better lens than the Nikon 12-24 in many ways. My personal take is to go for either Tokina 12-24 or Tokina 11-16. The 11-16 is currently the best ultra wide angle for DX format. I previously owned the Tokina 12-24, and it served me very well. It is true that the Nikon 12-24 is slightly better in terms of IQ than the Tokina 12-24, but the Tokina 11-16 is better than the Nikon 12-24.

used both the Tokina 12-24 and now Nikkor 12-24..
Nikkor 12-24 is better in terms of more vibrancy in colours..

The 11-16 is still cheaper than the Nikon 12-24. You can check out some test results here...
