Will 50D price drop after the launch of 500D

i'm planning to buy 50D soon.. But with the lauch of 500D today.. is there any chance that 50D price will drop..??

yeah i do.. but with 500d the specs are almost the same and being entry level consumer all the vid will obviously attract them much more.. I heard its coming out early may in UK.. Not 2 sure about SG... Any Ideas guys??

500D and 50D will still caters to a different market segment. You have got to hold and try out the xxD to know how different it is with a 4xxD or 5xxD. You buy a camera for its photographic features. I don't think the video features will affect the decision that much. If you are looking for cheap, good and have 2 big boobs. Don't bother. There ain't such a thing

Cannot just look at the specs. Test the cams, or at least wait for reliable reviews.
By specs, many compact cameras seem to have beaten the 4XXD, in terms of megapix and features long ago.. but it just aim the same

mmm agree with the rest. it'll always drop (eventually)
but i don't think you should wait for a body price drop too long if you're buying a dslr.
(because body prices always drop and you'll always feel like you bleeded away cash from the depreciation)

Just buy first and don't think about it afterwards. Saves you a ton of time thinking "what if.."

anyway ... the 500D is launched by Canon, but not here in Singapore yet. the price drop will sure happen, and as of the late the 18mth product cycle has proven to be broken and gone ....

Cos 500D and 50D is diff in term of some spec.....
but 450D price will drop....

They are different level my friend, 500D may have more functons but have fewer customizable fuctions.

After I bought my 400D long time ago, I tried 30D and stil find 30D better in terms of customization and the solid build.

Yep, agree.

although 30D has "lower" MP compared to 400D, but 30D has better grip, better view finder, better built, better fps, etc.

TS should not compare 500D with 50D because they are from different class and target market.

if you need it now, buy it now. otherwise, wait. what's the point of asking if price will drop? old technology price drop is inevitable.

I still dunno why so many people keep comparing 500d and 50d.
they are in different segments.
The xxd series gimme a much better feel and ease of control than xxxd series.

For those who wanna try the camera, tampines courts is highly recommended.
They have quite a number of DSLR on display, most of the time the salesperson don't even bother to kacau you.
