Cool The Finale and the Champion ... (UIM F1 Powerboat race, Sun edition, Vol 2)

Entering the second and final day of the UIM F1 Powerboat championship, tension was piling up moments before the final race, the entire bayfront's attention froze the moment the horn was sounded ...

I present thee, the Finale ...

Here they go ...

Early lead

Ivan Brigada's DAC (Boat 2) of Zepter Team sped past Luca Fornasarig's Comparato (Boat 29) and other boats to take an early lead in the race.

Eclipsed

Andy Elliott's Burgess (Boat 4) eclipsing Luca Fornasarig's Comparato (Boat 29).

Side by side

Ismail HJ Kabon's Seebold (Boat 31) alongside Zepter Team's DAC driven by Guido Cappellini (Boat 1).

Keeping up

Bob Trask (Boat 5) of Baba Seaquest Racing trying hard to keep up to Fabrizio Bocca's Merlin powered DAC.

Triple play

Luca Fornasarig's Comparato (Boat 29) in a short-lived lead against its two competitors, Bob Trask (Boat 5) and Fabrizio Bocca (Boat 7)

... continued

Near miss

Singapore's very own Jon Jones's Burgess (Boat 20) in a near miss with Bob Trask's Seaquest (Boat 5) from Australia. This could have been a fatal accident if not for the quick reflexes by both drivers.

Before the mishap ...

Sweden's Pierre Lundin in his Molgaard (Boat 8) speeding past Tany Al Qamzi's DAC (Boat 28). Pierre's boat run into engine problem before he enters the 29th lap, ending his race ...

The winning speedster!

Scott Gillman's DAC of Emirates F1 moments before he pushes thru the final line.

The Champion

The Champion, moments after he climbed out of his boat. Scott Gillman completed the 60 laps race with a record time of 53:27.42, emerging as the champion for the Singapore leg of the UIM F1 Powerboat Championship.

*Shots taken with AF-S 70-200 + 1.4x TC or Sigma 120-300, handheld or monopod assisted.

For your comments and viewing pleasure! It has been a great weekend for action shooters, hope the F1 will be back the next year!
