Default Question on Tamron 200-500mm for Canon mount

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this thread I'm thinking of getting a Tamron 200-500mm to use with Canon 1000D but I wasn't sure about some things.. hope you guys can help

1) Can this lens be mounted on the Canon 1000D? i've heard that minimum apertures of 6.3 can't be mounted...

2) Is there a service center for this lens in Singapore?

3) Are there shops in Singapore that sell this lens? MS color mentioned that can't order this lens anymore...

The biggest aperture of 6.3 @ 500mm doesn't affect the mounting. Probably, you are concern bout the AF? If so, it has worked flawlessly on my 400D before.

Can't help you on the point 2 and 3, as my lens was sourced from overseas.

If you are new to this type of tele range cum its lens aperture limitation, my word of advise, is that, you really need a good amount of light or a monopod to yield good results.

Otherwise, this lens can deliver better image quality as compared to Bigma (Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3).

Cheers!

if you're worried about the f/5-6.3 aperture, then get the sigma 200-500...

i don't think he's worried about the size of the aperture, but rather whether AF will work on a non-1D body.

the thing is that even though the lens aperture may be f/6.3 at the long end, the lens is designed to trick the camera into believing that it is f/5.6, thus retaining AF. the sigma 50-500mm works in this way too.
