Red Dawn, come in!

Hi I got a question to ask you about Sigma 20/1.8.

I took some slides with it on EOS30 on a sunny day at a beach. Hood was on and I used ext. flash (EX420) to fill in the subject if any (portaits). For scenery I didn't use flash. Now I find all slides with flash on have shades at two (not four) diagonal corners, while no such shades when flash was off. Can it be the problem of hood?
