    Default sad day

    hi, bro/sis

if you are doing renovation when buying hardware, please be careful:

Brought some hardware from "Hoe Kee hardware" when deliver they took out show me and due to the item I brought is pure white i could not see the hairline crack only when my contractor ready to install for me due to their hand is dirty then the hairline crack appear.

so i try to call "Hoe Kee" guest what is the answer. They said is due to our own fault & refuse to change, even the delivery man come over to look at it. He even said "That day I delivery, I dun see so big hairline crack"

Hope this helps when bro/sis here doing renovation

    Sorry to hear that BB.

    Many possibilities...

    1) The crack was already there from the beginning and the seller was not aware
    2) The crack was already there from the beginning and the seller was aware but kept quiet and sold it to you
    3) The crack occured during transportation to your place
    4) The crack was there at some point, but became worse only after handling and delivery (based on what the delivery man said, which means the delivery man was already aware that there was a crack but the crack was smaller)

Since the crack is no fault of the consumer (assuming), it appears that a defective product was delivered to you.

I will never go back to Hoe Kee to buy anything again. And will also tell all my friends to let them know so that they won't be cheated.

    Thanks

one has to insist on checking the delivered items for damage before the delivery item is taken in. with items that are prone to chipping or developing cracks, once papers are signed, any defacts are either the responsiblility of the owner or the renovation contractor.

it could be the fault of the contractor's staff too.

for items sealed or wrapped with protective cardboard, they should be removed for visual inspection before signing the "taking over" paper/s.

    Sorry to hear what happened.

Indeed checking of the items at delivery is important but its not easy to spot all defects as BB said.

I bought from Hoe Kee before (IMM branch), kitchen sink / HOB / toilet things. I was luckier.
My experience is that, the service is so so, price is properly ok (I didn't go too many places to compare), delivery was on time. Didn't have much problem with them but I did buy the wrong tap for my kitchen sink (my fault purely) and I took it back for exchange and no questions asked.

How long between the delivery and you discover the crack?

If it is within one day, I think the reputable vendors should replace the item for you. If it is say a week, then they might think the contractor might have caused it. Just my 2 cents...

    question to you,

if you were hoe kee, customer says ok, sign ok, then after a while say not ok, are you going to give them benefit of the doubt?

let's put it another way, to the best of your knowledge, your dslr is working perfectly fine. you sell it in cs b&s, 2 hours later, the guy come and call you say the body got hairline crack, appears to have been dropped, and he asks you for refund. will you give?

    The is a tricky one.

But i think is 2 different issue bah. 2nd thing i understand warranty is check on the spot but up to seller to give how many days personnel warranty.

Buying new should have 3 days goods return policy if not working or problem. I DSLR have one to one exchange when i find a hair in the VF the next day.

Very questionable lah....I bought stuff from Hoe Kee b4...no problem....actually we only hearing one sided story....it's your job to check the condition before sign off....it was cosmetics, it was not due to manufacturing defects....it could be self inflict....maybe your contractor broke it and conveniently blame Hoe Kee.......just like you buy camera.....if the exterior crack...you don't expect the service center to repair for free unless the electronic during the warranty period

there is also fairness for the seller side, i think.

else, if i get a toilet bowl, i take a big hammer and smash it in a moment of frivolous anger, are you saying the seller should give me a new one?

overseas, yes, they have return policy, and yes, they are pretty tolerant of customer claims. i once made a replacement claim for a powder-based product delivered to me, they took back the item and found out that the postal delivery company had not packed the item properly, had put it into a much smaller box than usual, and no bubble wrap or cushioning of any sorts. the pack was folded into half and thus it got ripped apart during delivery process, and after they ascertained that, i got a replacement.

for this issue laid out here, anything can happen really. obviously, if the company wants a happy customer, they will replace. but if it meets 3 more of such cases? maybe still can. how about 20? 40? 800? with such a bad economy?

Hi, I believe it depends on which Hoe kee you went to... I have purchased quite a few items from Hoe Kee at Katong and have no problems so far. The staffs there were pretty ok especially the lady boss whom we like to call her as "Auntie Flower". She even gave us tips on how to maintain our sink and gas stove. I have also been to Hoe Kee at Plaza Singapura but sadly to say, their staffs attitude is no where near as good as those at Katong. And when we ask for new stocks for a glass panel, most of them had minor scratches on them. Had to go through a few pieces before buying.
May good light follow wherever you go

Anything can happen. Usually for fragile hardware its the buyer who must inspect before signing the delivery order. It can be the fault of seller, delivery or storage. Tiles can crack if not installed properly. Its very hard to prove your case.
