Hi, I just switch over from 400D to 50D and I use the blinky to check my photos. I found that the photos tend to overexpose. What happen?

Perhaps you have a lot of highlights but your subject matter is well exposed?
Perhaps you are in an AE mode and you accidentally set your auto-exposure bias to overexpose? Perhaps you are in an AE mode and the camera meters off a dark object and overexposes? Too many variables. Please state the situation you were shooting under. |

Not always, but quite often I put -0.5 to -0.7 exposure compensation on my 50d.

Yes, I find myself quite often reducing exposure compensation. Unlike the days I'm using 400D. I noticed there are a few custom functions that quite disturbing to me as I do not know whether is a cause in getting overexposure shots. ![]() Just found out, is it "Auto Lighting Optimizer" did the tricks? I'm using default for this function, I think I shall disable it...

I also disabled that feature including highlight tone priority as they introduce more noise.
