Default Lubitel TLRs

Hi,
Anyone familiar with Lubitel TLR 166B? Will it be sufficiently good start to (Low Budget) MF photography? would really like to hear feedback on this one.

Thanks in Advance.

regards

do you know where i can get one to "play play" with it.

I think a better choice would be SEAGULL $195 to start off and has warranty by local agent. Great 75mm fixed len, clear focus and sharp picture.

Russian made - when parts breakdown (highly likely) thats the end. For the thrill of owning it i guess its okay but to start off - may possible kill your interest in TLR. That is just my thoughts.

Someone is selling in Yahoo Auctions. I just want to try out first. Someone passed me this link. I wonder if it can be mounted on a tripod. http://homepage.mac.com/mattdenton/p...bitel_166.html

"Lubitel" in Russian means "Amateur". Seagull TLR is a better choice.

yup... I think so ... a seagul is much sturdier... anyway... I'm currently having fun with a Kiev 6C with a CZJ 80mm. Will be adding an Arax/Kiev 645 MLU to my list soon ... perhaps a couple of pentacon 6 mount lenses....

Don't bother getting the cheap Russian TLRs. They break down too easily, perhaps due to age, and hard to find spare parts in Singapore. Better off getting a Seagull.

I disagree...The Lubitel Tlr is very reliable..I have used it side by side with my Yashica D TLR and it has been as reliable as that. And its cheap...about SGD $70 at most plus shipping if you buy from Ebay, buy two if you like...shld outlast those chinese made goods.. But my personal bias is that I did not like the feel or quality of the Seagull...so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
