Was wondering if it's possible to emulate the bokeh effect of the STF using editing tools.

You could use PP to do the bokeh using the blur feature but is not the same using the len. You cannot remove the len totally. The PP is to assist in your photo processing N not to take over the actual effect.

Thx for the replies
![]() I did notice that the bokeh of the STF is somewhat like blur but has colours vs "whitish" colour of others (sorry, can't describe well). Was thinking of it cos 135mm on APSC is really long, plus can't make it to get one by tomorrow (going on a trip to China). Might be only able to buy one in August ![]() Really poor at editing, only using what's supplied with the cam to do WB adjustment & cropping. ![]() |

STF is a very unique lens.

Well the "idealised" bokeh of the STF resembles very closely to that of Gaussian blur. You can start from that approach.

the bokeh is really creamily delicious to die for.
i wish they had one at 70mm for aps-c sensors, 135mm a little too long.

could be possible to photoshop the effect.
have to select areas to blur carefully, using magic wands/quick selection, then use blur filters. try saturation masks and gradients to imitate the "apodization element". you might not the same effect with using the real lens, but could have some fun in photoshop.
