Hi Guys
I already have sold my 1000D and was waiting for 500D to be launched, but now I came to know that it wil only be avaialble in May and the launch price is not going to be cheaper (later it might drop in 2-3 months as happened with 450D). So I am confused about the buying decision...should I wait for this (which is very difficult as I dont have any cam with me ) or should i go for 40D which might be available at lower price now. (even a used 50D could be an option)...![]() anyone else in similar state of mind !! ![]() guys..what do you suggest .. Thanks.

You are getting a camera now because you felt like it earlier on? Once you buy one this time round, won't you feel like getting a better one? |

i would just wait. Really the added functions, digic iv and higher mp just trumps everything out there. If you don't need the camera to take pictures of your kids or babies, just wait.

So in that case, what shojibake mentioned will probably make more sense. You have to ask yourself if the camera is an urgent need or not.

judging from your 'wanted desire' and decision to sell the 1000D, i suggest u stick with either a PNS (hope you have one) or wait for the 500D ... the prob is no one really knows when it will be official launched and in stores here. no point really going for the 40D or 50D as when the 500D launches your 'wanted desire' would come back to haunt u and u have to start selling the 40D or 50D off again because u wan something better. in between all this you will be losing much cash.
one other thing to note. do you really really fancy and want the 500D for sure? because to me one big diff of the 500D compared to the 50D is the build. if lets say u get the 50D and like the better build, you may face a problem adjusting to the less sterdier 500D |

If you can sell your camera in anticipation of a new one, I don't think you need a camera at all.

I think it's worth the wait. For the money, all the vital specs are there. It's a serious jump in every aspects comparing to 1000D.
May is just 2 months away and since you talk about not having enough budget now, then it makes even more sense to wait.

By asking "wait for 500D or ..." already means you dont need it urgently now. Wait lah.

wait for the 1Ds mk4. then you won't need to upgrade for a long time.
As mentioned, are you buying a camera to take pictures? or to compare specs? you can make pictures with a 300d, don't need the best and latest equipment.

I presume u are buying camera for leisure shoots onli. So normally i stick to the few points and i make sure i go with it.
- Decide your budget that you can spend. If 500D is within your budget range, den wait for it. Dun even bother comparing it with 5D and above model if you cant afford. - Don't buy a camera becos it is a new release model, happens to me between the 40D and 50D choice, i choose 50D becos i like some of the new function despite ppl saying high ISO noise is better on 40D. Bite my lips and pay for the few hundred differences. - After u buy, DON'T look back, comparing prices again. It will make you wanting to upgrade and upgrade and upgrade. ![]() |

bro,
if observe, the recent digital camera technology revolution has been "evolving" like "mobile phones". The manufacturer is teasing "gadgeters" (not photographers!) to keep buying and upgrading to their new model. If you are a "gadgeter", this will burn out your money because they will keep launching their new model. What is best, is to buy one that suit your need in taking pictures, trust me!
