    I will set autofocus mode to continuous and keep tracking. Prefocus helps.

    What system and model are you using?

    Each manufacturer and specific camera models have different AF systems, capabilities, idiosyncracies and levels of adjustability or customisation (if any).

    Once you intimately understand how your camera's AF is programmed/works, and (if it's possible) customise it to your needs/shooting situation, you'll find it easier to get the results you need.
