Cathay Photo is no longer competitive in pricing. I gave an example... was looking to buy a nikon monarch 8x42 dcf binocular. I was quoted $460 over the phone. I subsequently called in to SLR Revolution and was given the price of $368 nett for a local warranty set. I dont even have to beg for more discount.

I am scared to think how much more will i be charged at Cathay Photo if i were to go buy some thousands worth of camera stuff.

I m helping my dad to look at 18-200 vrII and 10-24... Bally gave me the lowest price of 900 and 1200 w.o gst. Usual price is like 1100 and 1395 at cathay... Are bally ones grey imports or whatever they are called?! Seems like everyone had some really bad experience with them. Although the boy i asked seems abit uninterested/bored.. Any advice? thanks!

For CP, I think you can only get a decent price when you do a quote via email. Everytime I need to get something from CP, I will ask for equote. Sad but true.

    Will Go

    1)Song brothers(SLS)
    2)Alan Photo(SLS)

    Will not go
    None at the moment.

I brought my tripod from song brothers at SLS. I went there many times to look at the tripod and cameras. The salesman was ok, explained to me the specs of the tripod patiently. After a few days, i bought the tripod.

I went to Alan Photo today to look for the Fujifilm Finepix 2500HD...and had a hands on one of the models there.(2) Their service was ok..

    Will go again
    - Cathay Photo (MS & PP) ... especially at MS, Jeff is very patient with me, helped me with tripod selection, and find he's very professional yet friendly
    - Oriental Photo (SLS) ... good service from Eddy, even promised me same price when I return for the lens I asked for

    Will not go again
    - Shops on the first and second level of SLS
    - Alan Photo (Funan) ... staff really bochap you, my wife, who is deaf, had hard time trying to find pricing for an SD card

    Others, I dare not comment.

    Cheers!
