anyone use close-up filters? how is the result compared to macro lenses?

i dont know about filters but i use an add on too. raynox dcr 250. gets quite good magnification and is easy to snap on and use on almost all lenses for just $120.
2 pictures taken with tamron 28-75 and the raynox add-on. (both hand held without flash) ![]() ![]() you can get it from http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showt...ghlight=raynox

I'm using DCR250 also. My friend is using a marco lense. His picture are sharper at the edges and less chroma.

And the DOF is easier to control using a dedicated macro lens too. If you can afford, get a dedicated macro lens, otherwise, the Raynox is a good alternative.
