Hi folks,
I'm just starting out on my DSLR journey, having bought my first DSLR in the form of a D90. My purchase came with a 3.0" screen protector so I thought I remove the BM-10 LCD Monitor Cover and apply the film directly on the LCD Monitor itself, only to realise that the film barely covers the entire glass area. Mad at myself for being spatially-challenged, I fixed the BM-10 back onto the camera and realised that the BM-10 has 2 areas, 1 border that can be described as "slightly frosted" and a transparent and rectangular area measuring just about 3.0" diagonally across. So my questions really are: 1) Do you use your camera with/without monitor covers attached? 2) If attached, do you apply the LCD screen protector on the LCD itself or on the monitor cover? 3) Can you share any funny/problematic/challenges one might face if using the camera with the monitor cover attached? Cheers, Johnson |

I use the BM-10 cover with no other protector. No glue on my camera, thanks.

I use the plastic cover only, no LCD protector. Find no problem with the monitor cover.

No need the protector lar.
Just whatever the Nikon provide you can use that as protection. If didn't notice, the inner is a protection from the actual LCD display. If your screen is scratch, it's the outer layer screen of your camera body which can be replace for only $20.00-$25.00 from Nikon if my guess is not wrong unless the price have change. So no need to waste your money on buying a another plastic protector unless you intend to sell it within 2 years. |

Thanks for all your replies.
Haha, I should have kept that free 3.0" screen proctector for my next phone purchase or something since I already have the Nikon BM-10. So, no one had any issues while taking photo with it attached to the body? E.g. water (e.g. perspiration) getting in-between the monitor cover and the monitor itself? (I does not happen to me) or losing the cover because it came loose? |

i bought an oversized film screen protector pack which has 3 pieces inside the pack, and cut them to size to cover my ENTIRE LCD at the back, and even the top. This way i can cover every single mm of LCD at the back, even the black parts...
one reason why i did it was cos i dun wanna use the plastic cover. everything i go under the sun and even attempt to review images, i am just looking at my own reflection instead of the images. very distracting, and troublesome to keep angling it in a manner so as not to catch my reflection... its only physics. so i did away with the lcd cover. anyway i juz realised the protectors are very cheap too, when i last visited cathay on sunday... |

i was using the cover until there are same particles going in between the screen and the cover.. results? scratches!!!.. i quickly use an over sized screen protector for iphones (2 bucks from daiso).. cut it into shape and applied.. more at ease now..
i'm considering using without the cover now.. let's see.. |

Nikon recommend you to remove the monitor cover when you are using the camera, attach it only when the camera is not in use, however, most people just leave it on all the time.
this plastic cover get scratches after sometime, hard for me to review the monitor, if take in and out, it will get very lose or lost, so I'm using screen protectors on my Nikon DSLRs, and keep original Nikon monitor covers in the packaging boxes. anyway, the clarity of the screen protector is far better then the screen protectors and also tougher. No cover or protector for me... I never use them, even for my phone. Don't like an extra layer there distorting my LCD.
No scratches so far. Even if it does get scratched somehow, it only cost $20 or so to replace that plastic screen as Godzilla Invades mentioned. It doesn't scratch that easily anyway. If it does get scratched, its going to be quite a hard scratch that will probably scratch through those thin plastic films anyway...
