Hi all,
I'm considering buying diffuser for my SB-900. After did some research, I came up with 3 options: Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Cloud http://store.garyfonginc.com/lsu-cloud.html LumiQuest Promax System http://www.lumiquest.com/products/promax-system.htm Demb Flash Diffuser Pro (DFD Pro) http://www.dembflashproducts.com/diffuser/models/ Anyone can recommend which one is the best? Thanks. |

I've only tried GF lightsphere and DFD .... thus cant comment LumiQuest Promax System. Anyway I'll just list the problems rather than benefits
Gary Fong Lightsphere Universal Cloud - Purchasable from CP http://store.garyfonginc.com/lsu-cloud.html - Tends to drain more battery juices than DFD - Good to use dome in scenarios of high ceiling. Additional costs - Results of direct flash may look dark at edges.(dark halls where maximum flash GN is needed) - Less creativity area for directional lights in comparison to DFD - Lightsphere can be pretty heavy for the flash resulting in tilting when placed at 45 degrees. One of my sunpak flashes was damaged by it - Unwanted attention gained, lightsphere gives the impression of "instant noodle bowl" ... guess it doesnt matter to most people. - Older version doesnt support universal sizes. Newer universal size version feels quite filmsy .. Demb Flash Diffuser Pro (DFD Pro) - Purchasable from Sgphotographer.com http://www.dembflashproducts.com/diffuser/models/ - More chances of inconsistent flashes, something or someone once accidentally hit DFD's rear flap resulting unexpected image contrast. - Acknowledged that built quality lightsphere will survive WW2 (although both are different materials) Last edited by SoToNgMaN; 22nd March 2009 at 12:12 PM. |
