Default HELP! Red alert! Firmware updating problem.

I was updating the firmware on my 70-300 and suddently everything hung; and when it came back, neither my camera nor my computer can detect my lens! Even the manual focusing function is out!
Anyone experienced this before?
Please advice.

Ahhh not good, I think you will need to bring down your lens to the Oly Service Centre for a factory reset.

Your lens effectively has no software loaded in now, and without the software, the lens cannot communicate with the camera.

Heh, I don't think anybody else in Singapore would have the proper interface.

Sorry to hear this... but I think the service centre is the only place where you can send the lens to... even though their operations time is not really the most convenient. Why not swing by tomorrow at the Olympus event and drop off the lens at the same time? You can meet up with the community as well and have a chat.

I dropped by the next day at 7pm sharp, almost got slammed in the face... sorry couldn't make it for the gathering; was trying my luck to get my lens back fast for my weekend trip.

Usually if firmware flashing is interrupted and failed. the flashchip is spoilt and cannot be fixed anymore.

Wah you very heng, usually anyhow flash firmware is not covered in warranty, next time flash carefully. Its not 'just' firmware. It can destroy watever electronic you are using, whether its your computer motherboard, your phone, your psp or your cam :P
